Chidori

Chidori is a super cool and powerful jutsu created by Kakashi Hatake. It's a technique where he gathers lightning chakra and packs it into his hand, creating an electric field. Kakashi came up with Chidori after he struggled to mix lightning chakra with the Rasengan. He wanted to make a powerful move to protect his friends and loved ones. It uses a lot of chakra.

To use Chidori, you first need to gather a ton of lightning chakra in your hand. When you do, it makes a sound like a bunch of birds chirping—hence the name "Chidori," which means "a thousand birds." Sometimes the electricity is so strong it burns the user's hand, but it’s not enough to stop them from using it.

Once the lightning is ready, the user charges at their target like a lightning bolt and stabs them with it, usually causing some serious damage. It's so fast and loud.

Now, here’s the catch: moving that fast isn’t all fun and games. While the Chidori’s speed is a huge strength, it also causes something called “tunnel vision.” Basically, when you charge in at full speed, all you can see is your target in front of you, and you’re too focused to notice anything else. This makes it easy for enemies to strike back.

Raikiri or Lightning Cutter

Raikiri is basically the upgraded version of Chidori. It's Chidori, but WAY faster. In fact, it's so fast that the attack happens almost instantly. The name Lightning Cutter was given because Kakashi used to cut lightning in half with it.

Purple Lightning

The user of Purple Electricity shoots a bolt of electricity from their hand to strike a target. Kakashi Hatake invented this technique as a replacement for the Lightning Cutter, which he could no longer mush useful. Because he lost his Sharingan.

He can control the intensity of the Purple Electricity, making it powerful enough to remove an explosive vest without triggering the explosion or harming the target. On the other hand, he has also used all his chakra to produce an intense blast of Purple Electricity that was strong enough to generate rain clouds and make them produce rain.

Purple Electricity is sometimes used in ways similar to the Lightning Cutter, where lightning is gathered into the user’s hand for a quick, powerful strike.

Similarity of Rasengan and Chidori

The Chidori can indeed be seen as a technical derivative of the Rasengan, but it’s a more simplified and specialized version of it. The Rasengan was created by Minato Namikaze. His goal was to combine both Shape Manipulation and Elemental Manipulation into one ultimate jutsu. However, Minato failed.

Kakashi, who was taught the Rasengan by Minato, tried to follow in his footsteps and take it further, but he also failed in his attempt to add elemental manipulation. Instead, Kakashi discovered he could make the jutsu work with a single elemental chakra.

This is how the Chidori was born. It’s essentially a Lightning-element version of the Rasengan, but with far less complexity. Kakashi could not take it any further.

Difference between Raikiri and Chidori

Raikiri and Chidori are essentially the same jutsu, but with a few differences in how they're used and their power levels depending on the user.

Which is Stringer: Purple Lightning or Chidori

Purple Lightning is clearly a superior version of Chidori, and there are a few key reasons why. First off, Purple Lightning is stronger on the natural lightning scale and likely in the Naruto world too. It’s a perfected version created by Kakashi. Unlike the original Chidori, which had drawbacks like tunnel vision, Purple Lightning is more condensed, stable, and easier to use. This makes it easier to focus and maintain, pouring more energy into it with less cost, which results in more power overall. It also has longer range and can affect a wider area, making it better for dealing with multiple opponents.

Another big advantage is that Purple Lightning doesn’t require a Sharingan or any special dojutsu to use effectively, making it more reliable. This means even without special vision, it’s still super effective. Plus, if someone with a dojutsu like the Sharingan uses it, they can increase its accuracy and speed even further, making it even more powerful.
